Gorgeous article by one of my newest heroes. Heaven knows I struggle with wanting to do everything, and these are some very wise words.
This is an issue a lot of people run into – they are excited to work on lots of projects, but once they get into the nitty gritty of a business it becomes fleeting.

So I’ve finally found the lovely little self-learning community of Duolingo. How did I not know this existed? Duolingo is a fantastic little site (and apps for iOS and Android) that allows you to learn Spanish, English, French, German, Portuguese, or Italian. It’s totally free, and self-paced. I’ve been diving into the Spanish lessons, and have to say that it’s a blast!
I’m really excited about expanding my linguistic horizons. A greater percentage of the world’s population speaks Spanish than does English, and nearly 37 million people in the US claim Spanish as their primary language. It’s bothered me for a long time that, despite this fact, English-speaking Americans (in my limited experience) don’t seem bothered about learning any language other than, well, English.
Beyond that tiny rant, I’m super excited to branch out and stretch my language-learning brain muscles. There is a lot of world to see, and I want to be able to experience it in the fullest sense.
Any advice for me as I tackle my second language?
